Dick DeVos’ Incredible Accomplishments in Life

Dick DeVos is a name well known in the United States. He is an outstanding businessman as well as an author. Dick is the husband of Betsy DeVos, an influential woman in the U.S. She has been involved in politics for quite some time and holds the United States Secretary of Education post currently. Dick and Betsy started the Dick and Betsy DeVos Family Foundation to help the less fortunate people in the society. Betsy stated in an interview that approximately 250000 students studying in public schools were being funded. Betsy was excited to be part of the movement that is dedicated to helping children access excellent education. The couple was compelled to join the movement and fund different schools when their children were at the right age of attending school. The two felt the need to help out other parents.

 

Dick DeVos was born in a well-off family in Grand Rapids in Michigan. Dick is the son of Richard DeVos, the co-founder of Amway. Amway is involved in consumer goods distribution, and Richard held the CEO position at the company for almost ten years from 1993 to 2002. Dick had the pleasure of attending the Forest Hills public system. The reason, Dick is excellent at business is because he was exposed to the business world at an early age. Dick and his brother Doug would help their father to host during the Amway’s annual meetings. The two ushered in guests, and the experience gave Dick the confidence to address a crowd. Dick had a solid educational background having attended the Northwood University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He later went to Harvard Business School. Mr. DeVos has received recognition from the different schools.

 

Dick DeVos is famous for his philanthropic activities in the U.S. He holds the president position of the Dick and Betsy DeVos Foundation. The group was inspired by the religious affiliation of Betsy DeVos. Dick and Betsy DeVos Foundation has funded millions of dollars to other organizations in the religious, civic, educational, artistic and community sectors. The group has funded institutions such as the Regional Air Alliance of West Michigan, Kids Hope USA, the West Michigan Aviation Academy and much more. The foundation has also supported several art competitions such as the ArtPrize held in Grand Rapids. In 2010, the organization donated $22.5 million to another arts institute called the Kennedy Center Institute for Arts Management. Dick and his wife Betsy have helped a lot of people and gave significant funds to numerous organizations.
