Sheldon Lavin is the Chief Executive Officer of OSI Group. He has been highly dedicated to the international development and expansion of the company. This company has recently bought Baho Foods and Flagship Europe which gives Lavin high hopes in the introduction of modern food processing to various countries across the world. He ventured into the meat industry around 43 years ago after he successfully completed his career in banking in conjunction with owning a consultant firm. Sheldon raises to the leadership as the Chairman and the Chief Executive Officer of OSI Group. He has been able to convert this firm into an international food products supplier. This firm has around 20000 employees all over the world. Lavin is usually proud of the growth in employee turnover that has been brought about by the family-oriented culture that has guaranteed longevity in the firm.
His first encounter with the meaty company was with meat industry was in 1970 when he decided to finance Otto & Sons. He became more involved in 1975 since Otto & Sons were in search investments abroad. Sheldon Lavin was appointed as a partner of this company together with two brothers after the retirement of their father. Later on, Sheldon agreed to become part of the corporation on a full-time basis after he grew fond of the business culture and the tactics that the firm implemented. OSI Group ventured in its mission of growth and expansion across Europe and Northern American in t1970s. In the 1980s, the company expanded to South America and Taiwan. Sheldon Lavin had by then gained full voting control of the company. OSI Group currently has more than 60 facilities across 16 countries in the whole world. In addition to this, Lavin is also contributing in philanthropic activities. He has been active in several charity organizations such as Jewish United Fund, Ronald McDonald House Charities, Boys and Girls of Chicago, Evan Scholar Funds and many others philanthropic projects.
On 20th Feb 2016, Sheldon Lavin emerged as the winner of the Global Visionary Award that was offered by Vision World Academy that was based in India. This award was being offered to the visionaries in various departments who have managed to attain their goals and dreams. Via patience, persistence, and perseverance. Lavin won the award during the fifth time of the academy awards. OSI Group has also managed to win several other awards such as the Global of Honor Award that was being offered by the British Safety Council. This award was meant for corporations that introduced the most creative tactics when it comes to combating environmental pollution.
