Kate Robertson’s Vision for G20 Leadership: A Call for Youth Inclusion

The co-founder of One Young World, Kate Robertson has set her sights on a transformative future where the leaders
of the G20 nations are also One Young World ambassadors. Robertson believes
that young leaders, equipped with fresh perspectives and innovative solutions,
hold the key to addressing the myriad challenges our world faces today.

One Young World, founded in 2009, serves as a global platform that empowers young leaders by
providing them with opportunities to share ideas and collaborate on solutions
for pressing global issues. The organization’s influence is notable, impacting
millions through various ambassador-led projects.

Robertson’s vision is driven by her belief in the power of youth to bring about meaningful change.
“Better leadership would change a lot of things. For me, the vision is
when the leaders of the G20, for example, are One Young World ambassadors,
things will be better,” she asserts. This statement underscores her
conviction that the inclusion of young leaders in top decision-making roles
could lead to more empathetic and effective governance.

Growing up in apartheid-era South Africa, Kate Robertson witnessed
firsthand the impact of transformative leadership. She draws parallels between
the leadership she experienced and what she hopes to see in the future.
“Coming from apartheid South Africa, where the transformative leadership
of Nelson Mandela and Archbishop Desmond Tutu changed the trajectory, it was
amazing to me as an adult and a CEO that the great and the good gathered in
various forums around the world throughout the year, but nothing ever
changed,” Robertson reveals.

One Young World continues to advocate for the integration of young leaders into the
highest echelons of global decision-making. Robertson’s daughter, Ella
Robertson McKay, managing director of One Young World, echoes this sentiment.
“Our mission is to inspire, build, and elevate young leaders because we
believe that at the heart of every global threat is a lack of leadership,” she explains.

With this steadfast commitment to nurturing young talent, Kate Robertson and One Young World aim to
reshape global leadership and address the challenges of the 21st century. Their
efforts highlight the crucial role of youth in crafting a more sustainable and
just world. Refer to this article for related information.
