He has been working in the field of executive search since 1978. Throughout his career, von Borstel has helped companies in the US, and Europe find great talent for positions such as sales, marketing, engineering, and vice presidents.
His clients include some of the largest multinationals in healthcare, technology, consumer products and professional services including Johnson & Johnson, P&G, SAP AG and Air France-KLM Group. In addition to this work with corporations von Borstel has also advised many high net worth individuals throughout Europe on how they can achieve their personal aspirations using similar methods as those used by corporations to find top talent.
Von Borstel’s past positions include living and working in the United States, France, Germany, Switzerland and The Netherlands.
His professional memberships include the European-based Institute of Chartered Recruitment Analysts (ICRA), the German Association for Human Resource Management (DGAFP) with which he has served for two terms on the board of directors, and the European body for HRM associations EXECUTIVES Europe. von Borstel is also a Fellow of The National Leadership Alliance in UK.
Von Borstel frequently contributes to trade and business magazines with articles on executive search, HR, management and leadership topics.
He is a regular presenter at industry events and a frequent contributor to international television programs. He was featured in the international media series “CEO Secrets” of “The Open University” in UK. He also co-hosted the German Business program “Die Verbindung” (ZDF) and is a weekly contributor to Swiss national TV in Switzerland on TV1.
His publications include the books “Ich werde erfolgreich sein” (I will be successful) and “Die eigenen Stärken nutzen” (Using one’s strengths). According to von Borstel “Success lies in knowing one’s strengths and being able to turn them into results“. Von Borstel also is multilingual and holds a dual-citizenship of Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
