NJ Ayuk

NJ Ayuk is an independent subsidiary of The Newcom Group of Companies. The company was founded to proactively contribute to Africa’s development through Energy Advocacy, Strategic Planning & Consultancy Services. The company is currently focused on developing the African Energy Sector and providing advisory services to national and international organizations within the energy sector.

NJ Ayuk has been a vocal advocate for developing sustainable, green energy solutions as an alternative to fossil fuels in Africa. The company has championed a vision for Energy Justice and driven some of the most innovative renewable energy projects across the continent. NJ Ayuk’s key projects focus on Renewable Energy Integration, Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation through low carbon economy development strategies and international policy advocacy for Africa’s investment in Sustainable Energy. These initiatives are intended to complement global efforts towards mitigation and adaptation to global climate change – efforts often led by developing countries such as China, India or Brazil.

The company ethos is founded upon the need for a Sustainable Energy Sector, contributing towards wealth creation and reducing the harmful impact of climate change in Africa. A group of young African professionals initially established the company with a deep interest in Africa’s development and a passion for exploiting sustainable energy sources for clean and green development. It has been the foundation for NJ Ayuk’s strategic investment approach in Africa, focusing on clean and renewable energy and carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS).

NJ has designed, implemented and strongly advocated for over 30 Renewable Energy Integration projects in East Africa between 2011 and 2015. These projects have led to the development of wind energy capacity per the long-term policy objective of Tanzania’s Ministry of Energy and Minerals (MoEM).

The company is currently developing an integrated wind, solar PV and hydropower plant in Kenya that the German government will finance. The project includes a 3MW on-grid solar PV array and 2MW domestic landfill gas utilization capacity.

NJ Ayuk’s policy advocacy seeks to contribute towards formulating a common African approach to renewable energy integration geared towards stimulating investment and increasing renewable energy generation capacity across Africa. Through its policy advocacy, NJ Ayuk has worked with several countries on policy frameworks and strategies to integrate renewable energy into national grids. The company also provides support services to international financial institutions that have attempted to integrate sustainable development initiatives into their lending activities across Africa.

NJ has played a pivotal role in defining the African continent’s approach to sustainable development. It has built on its regional knowledge and global experience to become one of Africa’s most respected consultants in strategic planning, policy advocacy, project implementation and renewable energy integration. The NJ Ayuk Group has established itself as a leading independent renewable energy consulting, advisory and project development firm in Africa. The company’s success is largely attributed to the belief that emerging markets should be empowered to determine their future rather than have these decisions dictated by powerful developed countries.
